Zappa replica heads to the USA
In an odd quirk of history, the only place a statue existed to the musician Frank Zappa was not in his home town of Baltimore, USA, but in Vilnius, Lithuania; a place never visited by the man or in any way connected to the town.
The statue was was erected during the heady years following independence from the USSR and has attracted it’s fair share of visitors during the years since.
Soon a copy of the famous bust will be heading it’s way top the US as a gift. Hopefully the Americans will find a nice spot for it.
Lithuanian correspondent Viktoras Jakovlevas over at Euranet has a small piece about it. Why not pop over and have a listen?
