Max Penson (1893 - 1959)

We’re firm fans of old photos here at EL Towers.  Looking at people and places long gone allows us some degree of historical reference to the events and news which we read and hear about every day.

It’s especially interesting to see images of a era where social turmoil had turned a country upside down, as happened during the first decades of the 20th century in Russia.

Some of these photos provide us with a view of a world that has long gone and to imagine being in the USSR with this photographer as he recorded the changes unfolding around him.

Sadly the Soviet authorities forbid Max Penson from publishing many of his works however a wonderful personal collection of images has been created, some of which you can find at the wonderful realussr.com website.

Pop over and have a look.  You won’t be disappointed.
